| A graduate of The Actors Institute, London (UK), Sally McLean has played leading roles on the London stage in various productions including Macbeth, Hamlet, Uncle Vanya and the World Premier of Annabel’s Requiem. She has appeared on UK TV in a variety of roles including “Angie Powers” in the BAFTA award-winning BBC mini-series Bootleg.
On the Australian stage, her credits include leads in On The Town, Annie, Lovepuke and the Australian Premier of the off-Broadway hit I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at the Athenaeum Theatre, Melbourne. Australian TV credits include Flying Doctors, Neighbours, Fast Forward, Blue Heelers, Tonight Live and Comedy Inc. Film credits include Without A Word, Ring of Roses, Raising Props, Within and Return and the UK features A Little Rain Must Fall, Ladybird and Secrets.
As a screenwriter, director and producer Sally has written, directed and/or produced a number of successful films and plays under the banner of her production outfit, Salmac Productions, which began life in 1998 under the honorary patronage of Oscar nominated British actor, Sir Nigel Hawthorne.
Produced plays include Chasing Pegasus and PS I Love You. Completed films include the feature film A Little Rain Must Fall and short films fixNATION and Brigit & Benny (a modern faerietale).
Sally’s current work in progress is the WWII stage play, Bayonets & Bully Beef, which was showcased in July 2005 at the Victorian Arts Centre, Melbourne under her direction. |
